DNA Damage in Gasoline Station Workers Caused by Occupational Exposure to Petrol Vapour in Turkey

Gasoline is a mixture of various hydrocarbons; its vapour consists of 95% aliphatic and alicyclic compounds and aromatic compounds. According to the International Agency of Research on Cancer (IARC), gasoline vapour is included in class of human carcinogens. Benzene is a volatile aromatic hydrocarbon solvent used extensively in industry in the past. It continues to be used, in low concentration, in some occupational processes. Benzene is a cytotoxic, hematoxic, immunotoxic and genotoxic aromatic hydrocarbon that is used in many fields in industry.
