Dr. Büşra Eylem Aktaş from the Department of Psychology of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Istanbul Medipol University is deemed worthy of support from the TÜBİTAK 1002-A Rapid Support Program for her project. The team of the accepted project includes Dr. Aktaş as the Primary Investigator, Dr. Müge Ekerim Akbulut as the Researcher, and Sema Merve Balçık as the Scholarship Recipient. In the project titled “Does Cooperation Keep Children Away from Waste or Injustice: A Developmental Investigation”, the advantageous injustice avoidance behaviors of children in different age groups in Türkiye will be examined for the first time. Giving information about her project, Aktaş said: “In this project, we will investigate from what age advantageous injustice avoidance behavior emerges and which factors are associated with it. Thus, in the research, both the effect of collaboration and the role of motivation to avoid waste will be discussed together. In other words, the effect of cooperation on children’s behavior to avoid injustice and whether avoiding waste plays a role will be examined on the axis of the relationship between them. In the literature, it will be observed whether the positive effect of cooperation on avoiding injustice is still valid when it comes to waste. It will also be investigated whether children’s cooperation in cases of waste avoids injustice more than if they do not. In this respect, the study will contribute to the relevant field as the first experimental developmental study in which both waste and cooperation interaction are observed.”
