"Disaster/Emergency Drill" was held at our University

A "Disaster/Emergency Drill" was held at Istanbul Medipol University South Campus to draw attention to disasters and to be prepared. The drill started at 9.45 with the sound of a siren, and our staff and students in the buildings took the "drop-cover-hold on" position where they were until the siren stopped and waited for the end of the siren, which represents the moment of disaster. Then, the staff and students in the buildings quickly reached the Emergency Assembly Areas on the B1 and B4 floors, with the guidance of the evacuation teams. After the buildings were evacuated safely, a fire extinguishing drill was organized to show the precautions to be taken in case of a possible fire, minimize the damage, and act with a sense of duty. Following the information provided by the Occupational Health and Safety Office and the Emergency and Disaster Management Coordination Commission, volunteers carried out extinguishing activities with fire extinguishers. The Disaster/Emergency Drill ended with the announcement to return to the buildings.
