Science, art, and philosophy were discussed at the 4th ALFAKON

The 4th ALFAKON, hosted by Istanbul Medipol University School of Pharmacy to contribute to the professional and personal development of the School of Pharmacy students, lasted three days. The congress, which has been held since 2018, was attended by our School of Pharmacy Dean Prof. Gülden Zehra Omurtag, pharmacist Cemaleddin Saraç, Prof. Kürşat Bora Çarman, Uğur Tuncel, Faculty Member Dr. Cihan Taştan, pharmacist Elif Bölükbaş, Dr. Udaya Kumar Dude, and pharmacist Hatice Öz as well as many academicians, pharmacists, and students. The first day of the congress with the main theme ‘perception and awareness’ was held under the title of scientific pharmacy, the second day under the title of artistic pharmacy, and the last day under the title of philosophical pharmacy. The opening speech of the event held at the South Campus Conference Hall was made by Prof. Gülden Zehra Omurtag. In her speech, Omurtag touched upon the role of the ten-star pharmacist of the World Health Organization and said: “The World Health Organization added the positive agent, that is, the person who affirms, as the tenth star to its nine-star definition of pharmacist, which it defines as ‘patient healer, decision maker, communicator, manager, lifelong learner, teacher, leader, researcher, and entrepreneur’. In this sense, I congratulate all participants trying to integrate pharmacy education with social skills.”
