AimCourse aims students to be aware of people exposed to torture, plan strategies for preventing torture in community and do occupational therapy interventions by analyzing the factors that effects the participation in torture victims.
Course ContentThis course contains; 1.Torture and health,2.Torture types and situation in the world,3.The relevant institutions in Istanbul,4.Effects of torture on human being; anxiety disorders, post travmatic stress disorders etc.,5.Planning of a protection strategy (group work),6.Torture and women, women's shelter and occupational participation,7.Field study,8.Stress related illnesses and rehabilitation,9.Analysing the torture victim (body limitations, activity limitations, participation restrictions, environment, quality of life),10.Stress management, self-management abilities,11.Cognitive rehabilitation and sensory reeducation,12.Body awareness and Relaxation tecniques,13.Policies about tortute victims,14.Presentation of field study.
