Aim | Primary objective of the course is to acquire knowledge of the various language characteristics of the texts on economics and finance, and their implications for translation (in terms of cultural differences, content, word choice, text function, syntactic patterns, information structure, etc.) and terminology / terminography |
Course Content | This course contains; 1. Hafta: Introduction, basics, use of dictionary. 2. Hafta: Basic information regarding the translation of documents about economics and finance 3. Hafta: Gaining of financial literacy 4. Hafta: Gaining of financial literacy 5. Hafta: Gaining of financial literacy 6. Hafta: Translation of a sample text by the students 7. Hafta: Midterm 8. Hafta: Introduction to cryptocurrency 9. Hafta: Analysis of cryptocurrencies 10. Hafta: Translation of a current financial text by the students 11. Hafta: Evaluation of translations 12. The students who succeeded in this course; • will be able to make the professional text analysis in terms of register, style and discourse. • will be able to acquire the ability of developing the methodology of translation (in terms of cultural differences, content, word choice, text function, syntactic patterns, information structure, etc.) and terminology / terminography characteristic of the texts on economics and finance. • will be able to acquire specialized terminology of the Economics and Finance. • will be able to utilize the specialized terminology in actual translation situations in a variety of texts on economics and finance both in English and Turkish. • will be able to acquire a deeper awareness of the practical research / searching and documentation techniques necessary to find solutions for translation problems in the field. | 10, 9 | A |
