Course ContentThis course contains; 1.Introduction to the concept of “Culture”,2.Basic Topics in Anthropology and the Concept of “Culture”,3.History and Development of Social and Cultural Anthropology I: the period of colonialism, literature of exploration, “arm chair” anthropologists,4.History and Development of Social and Cultural Anthropology II: Social evolutionist approach, its critiques and historical partiality approach,5.Methodology in Social and Cultural Anthropology: Participatory observation, relationship between individuals and ethic.,6.The relationship between culture and ecology,7.Culture, modes of production and economy,8.Midterm exam and delivery of book report,9.Gender and marriage,10.Systems of family, kinship and genealogy,11.Social organization,12.Anthropology of religion Delivery of book report,13.Cultural change, globalization and anthropology,14.Globalization and applied anthropology.
