AimThe aim of these lectures: - to lead the students to understand the etiology and pathogenesis of the diseases and appreciate the morphologic features of the pathologic tissues and organs. Students will be able to; - distinguish the macroscopic and microscopic features of the pathologic tissue - appreciate the relations between the etiology and findings of diseases
Course ContentThis course contains; Pathology definition, history, examination methods ,Cell injury, necrosis and apaotosis ,Adaptation mechanisms , hypertrophy, hyperplasia, atrophy, metaplasia ,Inflammation: mechanism, types and morphological forms ,Wound repair and regeneration ,Fluid and hemodynamic disorders ,Neoplasia I, What is cancer, tumor definition, and general characteristics ,Neoplasia pathological features, subtypes, clinical features ,Normal macroscopic and microscopic structure of bones and joints ,developmental defects and major metabolic diseases of bone ,Fracture repair and healing, fracture types ,inflammations of the bone, nonspecific and tuberculous osteomyelitis ,arthritis (osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and gout) ,Soft tissue tumors .

Explain the basic principles of pathology. Learns the basic concepts of pathology. Understands the etiology and development mechanisms of diseases and has information about the methods used by pathology. Can distinguish a pathological tissue at the microscopic or anatomical level. Can explain about pathological conditions and diseases. Knows how to approach pathological situations adequately. Makes the definition of cell damage and cell death factors and their morphological features. Defines the basic mechanism and morphological features of inflammatory reactions, lists the types of inflammation, knows the clinical reflection of inflammation. Explains tumor/neoplasia concepts and formation mechanisms, morphological disorders of circulatory disorders defines the findings and results, knows the types of bleeding. Knows the basic features of the bone and joint system. Counts bone inflammations, knows their morphological features. Understands the reflection in the clinic. Understands osteoporosis. Counts the main joint diseases. Defines the differences between osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.
