AimTo teach the mechanisms of biomolecules. As a dietician they should be able to define anabolic and catabolic reactions, explain the relation between bioenergy and biomolecules and make comment on metabolism through the digestion of nutrients following the breakage of biomolecules.
Course ContentThis course contains; General aspects of digestive system biochemistry,Digestion and absorbtion of carbohydrates,Metabolic pathways of carbohydrates,Digestion and absorbtion of lipids,Metabolic pathways of lipids,Digestion and absorbtion of proteins,Metabolic pathways of proteins,Digestion and absorbtion of nucleic acids,Metabolic pathways of nucleic acids,The biochemical importance of minerals and water,The biochemical importance of vitamins and hormones,Digestive enzymes,Satiety and starvation metabolisms,Project presentation.
