AimThe aim of the Cinema and Literature course is to provide the student with the infrastructure that will connect Cinema, which is accepted as the 7th art, with the phenomenon of literature, which is one of the basic elements of culture. The aim is to enable students to analyze and synthesize adapted cinema works inspired by literature in the context of their linguistic, visual and aesthetic structures, especially by drawing attention to the difficulties of reflecting printed stories on the big screen, their distinctive features, adaptation styles, and the importance of writers, directors and screenwriters in the relationship between language and visuals.
Course ContentThis course contains; Cinema and Literature relationship, a conceptual and terminological outlook ,Literary works of literature; general features of a literary work; The pioneer authors that lead the literary arena- Cult Turkish novelists such as Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar, Halit Ziya Uşaklıgil, Ömer Seyfettin, Halide Edip Adıvar, Namık Kemal, R.Halit Karay, Yakup Kadri Karaosmanoğlu,vb ,Art of Narration and its genres,Cinema and Literature interactivity,Film adaptations from world/Turkish Literature,Film Adaptations from English Literature,Film adaptations from American Literature,Film adaptations from American Literature ,Film adaptations from Turkish Literature,Film adaptations from French Literature,Adapted films from Russian Literature,Film Adaptations from Italian Literature,Adaptations from other countries' literature: Bollywood, Korean, Japanese, English, African ( A Fisherman's Diary).
