Aim

The Master of Arts Program in Global Politics and International Relations is a terminal degree. The curriculum is designed to provide students with substantive knowledge and scholarly research in political science with special concentration on global affairs. The design of the program helps students developing critical thinking, analytical, research, and writing skills. Alumni of the program are expected to develop their careers in government and the public sector, non-profits, and the private sector, while others may prefer to pursue a PhD in political science or other related fields.

Graduation Requirements

Students who have succesfully complete all of the courses,a seminar and a thesis who have taken the 90 to 120 ECTS have a right to receive a diploma.

Recognition of Prior Learning

To apply for the Master's program applicants must have a university degree from Turkey's universities. For diploma equivalence the CoHE, Council of Higher Eduation, (YÖK - in Turkish) is the responsible institution for all necessary procedures.

Employment Opportunities

Graduates of this program can work in public or private sector of Turkey's labor market along with international organizations, research institutes or universities. They may apply for doctorate programs in Political Science or other social sciences. Graduates can get the opportunity to be promoted to higher positions in the institutions where they currently work.

Assessment and Evaluation

The first year of the 2-year Master's program consists of graduate courses. The second year of the program is devoted to the research of the master's thesis. Students who successfully complete all the required courses and are successful in thesis writing and oral thesis defense are eligible to graduate. Success in a course is determined by the course success grade. The course grade is obtained by evaluating the success of the student during the semester in mid-term exam / applied studies, group studies, presentations and other studies together with the final exam. In order to be successful in the course, a success level of at least 60 points out of 100 (2.27 / 4.00) is required at the end of the term. Details of the measurement and evaluation systems used in the courses can be found in the course syllabuses prepared by the instructor of the course.
