Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to: Name the basic terminology and vocabulary used in the field of psychology Define psychology as a discipline Develop an understanding of major fields of study, theories, perspectives and concepts within psychology and know their similarities and differences Define the scientific method, psychological research Analyze information related to behavior and emotions and differentiate between scienifically founded and non-scientific approaches and information related to human behaviour and mental processes. Explain psychological processes related to learning, memory, cognitive functioning, emotion, motivation, and personality; become familiar with important issues, concepts, and theories related to these areas. Integrate theories and principles of psychology to everyday social, personal and behavioral issues Gain awareness and respect towards issues related to diversity Describe how the brain and biological factors influence behaviors, emotions and thinking. 10, 16, 9A
