Aim | The aim of this clerkship is; to provide an understanding of the basic approach to the dermatological diseases, the accurate interpretation of the initial lesions, the approach to patients presenting with common skin diseases, and the evaluation of dermatological diagnostic methods and therapeutic procedures. |
Course Content | This course contains; Dermatology and Venereology (Introduction),Seborrheic dermatitis,Atopic dermatitis,Contact dermatitis,Papulosquamous diseases,Acne and Rosacea,Skin tumours,Bacterial diseases of skin,Fungal diseases of skin,Viral diseases of skin,Sexually transmitted diseases,Parasitic diseases of skin,Urticaria,Bullous diseases,Vitiligo,Connective tissue diseases,Behçet's disease,Reactive neutophilic dermatoses. |

Knowledge: The student remembers the necessary information of anatomy, physiology, histology regarding skin and sexually transmitted diseases. He is able to explain the economic and social burden, risk factors and prevention from dermatological and sexually transmitted diseases. He is able to explain the symptoms, pathology, laboratory features and relations with other commonly seen dermatological disorders. He is able to perform differential diagnoses of the most commonly seen skin problems, and interprete symptoms, examination findings and diagnostic tools. He is able to explain the workup and referral criteria for allergic disorders such as contact dermatitis, and other dermatological diseases such as psoriasis and Behçet's disease. He is able to explain the side effects of the medications, used for treatment of skin disorders. He is able to do mentorship and guidance for the patient. He is able to follow up the Behçet's disease at the primary care level. He is able to explain the risk factors and prevention of commonly seen sexually transmitted diseases. He is able to choose appropriate laboratory tests and treatment tools for most commonly seen parasitary diseases of the skin. He is able to explain the treatment methods and basic features of the medications which are used for the treatment of dermatological and sexually transmitted diseases. He is able to explain the life-threatening outcomes of the medication side effects. He is able to manage the patient with contact dermatitis due to occupational hazards. | 10, 16, 9 | A, D |
