Aim | The aim of this clerkship is; to provide gaining the skills related to collection of the blood sample properly from the patient for required for tests and analyzes that require a small amount of blood sample. |

Course Outline

0 | capillary blood colection | The patient is taken to the blood collection room. |
1 | capillary blood colection | Hands are washed according to the hand washing standard and gloves are worn. |
2 | capillary blood collection | The patient/family is informed. |
3 | capillary blood collection | The finger from which blood will be drawn is held tightly between two fingers, wiped with 70% alcohol cotton and waited for 10 seconds to dry. |
4 | capillary blood collection | The finger should be kept below the level of the heart to facilitate blood collection and to benefit from gravity. |
5 | capillary blood colection | The lancet sinks quickly. The depth of the incision should not exceed 2.5 mm. |
6 | capillary blood collection | After the first drop of blood is wiped with dry cotton, the subsequent drops are gently taken into the capillary tube without being suppressed. |
7 | capillary blood collection | In order to prevent coagulation, the tube should be filled quickly, air bubbles should be prevented from entering the tube. |
8 | capillary blood colection | The bleeding fingertip of the patient is covered with a dry cotton swab. |
9 | capillary blood collection | Used materials are disposed of properly. |
10 | capillary blood colection | Gloves are removed and thrown into the medical waste bin. |
