AimThe course introduces the students to the concept of evidence-based practice and provides information on determining and using current evidence-based practices in speech and language therapy.
Course ContentThis course contains; The concept and history of Evidence Base Practices,Importance of research in speech and language pathology,Types of evidence and their significance for speech and language therapy,Research principles and research methods, External Evidence,Elements of research and the PICO,Systematic nature of scientific research- Experimental research,Ethics in science,Accessing external evidence: The use of library databases and PubMed,Validity of evidence: Internal validity, external validity, subjective bias,Appraising data related to treatment,Appraising research: Student presentations,Student presentations,General evaluation.

1. Knows how to access current basic, theoretical and applied scientific knowledge in the field of speech and language therapy by using information technologies and resources; evaluates the accuracy, reliability and validity of this information.
