AimThe aim of this lecture is to practically teach students to take systemic and dental anamnesis and record this information, to diagnose the periodontal diseases of the patients with periodontal indices and radiographic examination, to establish a treatment plan appropriate for the diagnosis, to perform initial periodontal treatment, to inform and motivate the patient for oral hygiene after the treatment.

At the end of this lecture the students will: 1. have knowledge about etiology, prevention and treatment methods of periodontal diseases. 2. obtain and record the medical history of the patient's dental and systemic conditions. 3. measure and evaluate periodontal indices, and determines periodontal status of patients by radiographic evaluation, make spesific treatment plans according to disease. 4. inform the patient about periodontal disease and provide motivation for oral care. 5. have knowledge about the tools and devices to be used in the treatment of periodontal disease. 6. have knowledge and skills about surgical and non-surgical treatment of periodontal disease.16, 6, 8, 9A, E
