To lead the students to understand the etiology and pathogenesis of the diseases and appreciate the morphologic features of the pathologic tissues and organs. Students will be able to; - distinguish the macroscopic and microscopic features of the pathologic tissue - appreciate the relations between the etiology and findings of diseases
. Evaluates the main subjects of pathology and laboratory techniques. . Defines what pathology is. . Has general information about etiology, pathogenesis and morphological changes due to the diseases. . Defines the methodology of pathology laboratory and gives examples. . Has basic information about how a pathology laboratory processes. injury and inflammation due to the damage. . Defines the reasons and mechanisms of cellular injury, cell death and necrosis, pathophysiological changes due to the cellular aging. . Explains the general features, morphological findings and systemic effects of inflammation. . Explains the mechanisms of normal cellular proliferation, basic concepts of stem cells, tissue regeneration and healing mechanisms. . Defines normal homeostasis and hemodynamic disturbances. . Describes the edema, hiperemia and congestion and gives examples for each. . Defines the mechanisms of homeostasis, trombosis, emboli, and their morphologic changes. . Comprehend the basic rules of infarct and shock. . Appreciate the basic concepts of neoplasia and carcinogenesis. . Defines the nomenclature of the tumors, main fetaures of malignant ve benign tumors. . Defines the factors leading to cancer formation and basics of cancer epidemiology. . Summarizes steps of cancer spread, grading and staging of tumors and gives examples. . Summarizes the steps of carcinogenesis.
