AimThe aim of this course is to clearly explain the meaning of the most basic legal principles that constitute the essence of laws, constitutions and international treaties, to reveal the historical reasons for their adoption by humanity, and thus to ensure that these principles are followed even in the most concrete, practical legal problem, especially for legal subjects such as judges and prosecutors who play a decisive role directly on the rights of citizens. In order to do this, it aims to enable students (our colleagues) to comprehend the basic principles of law. When we look at the historical background, it is seen that our modern understanding of law has been seriously influenced by western thought. Here, three main approaches affect our law. In chronological order: Aristotle's Virtue Ethics, J. Bentham's Utilitarianism and Kant's Deontological Ethics influenced our legal thought. On the other hand, not only secular ethics but also religious ethics is another fundamental element for the construction of our law. Based on these foundations, the Philosophical and Sociological Origins of Our Law course aims to create awareness about the current state of our law together with the whole historical background.
