Bu derste öğrenciler grup becerileri hakkında bilgi edinir ve grup çalışmalarına mesleki ve etik konuları da dikkate alarak yaklaşmayı öğrenirler. Bu ders, konu anlatımı, tartışma, deneysel grup çalışması gibi eğitim ve öğretim yöntemlerini kullanarak, öğrencilere edindikleri teorik bilgi ile pratik becerilerini geliştirme ve etkili grup tekniklerini uygulayabilme imkânı sunmayı hedef alır. Öğrencilerin ders materyallerini okuyarak hazırlıklı gelmeleri ve derse aktif katılmaları beklenmektedir. Ders anlatım ve uygulamaları profesyonel standart ve etik konulara duyarlı bir teorik eğitim ve klinik pratiğin önemi vurgulanır.
