The B4 Garden of the Kavacık South Campus welcomed graduates preparing to begin their professional careers in engineering and natural sciences. At the 2026 Graduation Ceremony of the School of Engineering and Natural Sciences, students received their diplomas to the applause of their families and faculty members. The ceremony was attended by Prof. Bahadır Kürşat Güntürk, President of Istanbul Medipol University; Prof. Recep Öztürk, Vice President; Prof. Mehmet Kemal Özdemir, Vice Dean of the School of Engineering and Natural Sciences; as well as academic staff, administrative personnel, students, and their families.

Graduates from the Computer Engineering, Biomedical Engineering,Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Industrial Engineering,Civil Engineering Turkish Program, and Civil Engineering English Program received their diplomas during the ceremony.

PROF. GÜNTÜRK: BECOME ENGINEERS WHO SHAPE THE FUTURE, NOT JUST FOLLOW IT
In his video message, Prof. Bahadır Kürşat Güntürk, President of Istanbul Medipol University, emphasized that engineering is one of the most strategic disciplines for developing future technologies and driving societal transformation.

Highlighting the transformative impact of artificial intelligence on professions and production processes, Güntürk stated that Istanbul Medipol University has placed AI at the core of its engineering education.

"Our goal is not merely to educate graduates who use artificial intelligence. Our goal is to educate individuals who develop artificial intelligence, define its ethical boundaries, create new applications, and establish the standards of the future."

Addressing the graduating engineers, Güntürk emphasized that Medipol aims to educate engineers who lead technological change rather than simply follow it. "The future does not emerge on its own. The future is built by those who imagine it and work to create it."

He encouraged graduates to become individuals who design, develop, and place the technologies of the future at the service of humanity.

"IN THE AGE OF ACCELERATION, ENGINEERS WILL BE THOSE WHO CONTINUOUSLY LEARN AND CREATE INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS"
Speaking at the ceremony, Prof. Mehmet Kemal Özdemir, Vice Dean of the School of Engineering and Natural Sciences, described graduation not as the end of an academic journey but as the beginning of a new one.

Özdemir explained that the School provides students with an interdisciplinary engineering education that combines theoretical knowledge with practical, innovative learning experiences. He noted that artificial intelligence, robotic systems, data analytics, and smart technologies are redefining engineering. "The successful engineers of the future will not simply use existing technologies; they will develop new ones, produce creative and sustainable solutions to complex problems, uphold ethical responsibility, and generate value for society."

He emphasized that graduates have been educated as individuals with strong foundations in the basic sciences, the ability to adapt rapidly to change, and innovative thinking skills.

Özdemir also stated that the purpose of engineering education is not merely to award diplomas but to prepare graduates for a lifelong journey of learning, innovation, and problem-solving.

GRADUATES EMPHASIZED ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
Speaking on behalf of the graduates, Samet Akın, valedictorian of the Computer Engineering Department, thanked his professors, family, and friends for their support throughout his educational journey.

Emphasizing that artificial intelligence represents a tremendous opportunity for humanity, Akın said:

"Artificial intelligence and robotics will accelerate diagnosis in healthcare, reduce traffic congestion in transportation, enable the design of safer and smarter buildings in construction, and increase productivity in industry. As engineers, we are responsible for using these technologies ethically and for the benefit of society."

In his speech, Akın also stressed that engineers must assume a leading role in global competition.

TOP GRADUATES WERE HONORED
Students who graduated at the top of their departments received commemorative plaques during the ceremony. Congratulations were extended to Samet Akın, valedictorian of the Computer Engineering Department; Darin Elessavy, Biomedical Engineering Department; Yunus Emre Özel, Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department; Burak İzci, Industrial Engineering Department; Enes Kaan Kılıç, Civil Engineering Turkish Program; and Eman Mohmood, Civil Engineering English Program.

The commemorative plaques were presented by Prof. Mehmet Kemal Özdemir, Vice Dean of the School of Engineering and Natural Sciences.
