Medipol supports the “Green Homeland Mobilization”
İstanbul Medipol University has planted 111 saplings as part of the “Green Homeland Mobilization” organized in conjunction with the National Afforestation Day on 11 November.

During the “Green Homeland Mobilization,” held within the scope of the National Afforestation Day on 11 November, İstanbul Medipol University contributed to nature by planting 111 saplings. The event, led by the Office of Environment and Energy Management, brought together university staff and students who jointly supported the sapling-planting effort.

This meaningful initiative, implemented in line with the university’s sustainability policies, was made possible through the revenue generated from electronic waste collection activities carried out on campus. Electronic waste voluntarily collected by students and staff was converted into sapling donations after recycling processes were completed. In this way, two environmentally friendly actions waste management and afforestation were integrated into a single project.
The sapling-planting ceremony took place on 11 November at 11:00 under the slogan “111 Trees.” The event was attended by the Environment Management Office team, academic and administrative staff, and students. Participants expressed their satisfaction in contributing saplings that will serve as “breath for the future,” while promoting environmental awareness.
Following the ceremony, Ali Şenbahçe, Manager of the Office of Environment and Energy Management, and Ekrem Musa Özdemir, Environmental Officer, briefed Secretary-General Assoc. Prof. Abdurrahman Çetin on the event process and the new environmental awareness projects planned for the future. Assoc. Prof. Çetin emphasized that environmental sensitivity is an essential part of the institution’s culture and thanked all staff and students who contributed to this effort.

İstanbul Medipol University continues to raise awareness for a greener future through its initiatives in environmental management, energy efficiency, zero waste, and sustainability. Çetin stated that environmentally conscious projects will increasingly continue, and the university’s sustainability efforts will persist in the upcoming period.
