Atatürk commemorated with respect on the 87th anniversary of his passing
Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk was commemorated on the 87th anniversary of his passing during a ceremony held at İstanbul Medipol University.

A memorial ceremony was organized at the South Campus of İstanbul Medipol University to mark the 87th anniversary of the passing of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. The event was attended by the university’s academic and administrative staff, along with students.
PROF. NUHOĞLU: “ATATÜRK IS AN INTELLECTUAL COMPASS”
Speaking at the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Ayşe Nuhoğlu, Dean of the Faculty of Law at İstanbul Medipol University, emphasized Atatürk’s intellectual legacy and the fundamental values of the Republic.
Prof. Nuhoğlu stated:
“10 November is not merely a day of farewell; it is a day to remember an idea, an ideal, and a civilizational project. For Atatürk was not only a soldier or a statesman; he was the architect of a civilization built upon reason, science, and human dignity. Emerging from the devastation of war, he succeeded in reconstructing the future of a nation under the guidance of reason and science, declaring that ‘the truest guide in life is science.’ In this respect, Atatürk is not only a historical figure for us but an intellectual compass. To understand Atatürk is not solely to commemorate his life, but to keep his ideas and principles alive. Raising individuals who question, critique, and remain open to innovation; advancing under the light of science and the guidance of reason; upholding the principles of equality, freedom, and justice in all spheres of life… This is what Atatürk expects of us.”
Prof. Nuhoğlu further underlined that commemorating Atatürk means not only remembering him but also preserving his ideas, principles, and deep commitment to science.
She also referenced the 1933 University Reform, highlighting it as an indicator of Atatürk’s dedication to academic freedom and universal scientific standards.
Prof. Nuhoğlu added:
“Atatürk’s legacy is not merely an inheritance of the past; it is the responsibility of the present and the assurance of the future. Bearing this responsibility on our shoulders, we are determined to contribute to humanity through the universal language of science, to enlighten our society, and to carry our Republic forward.”

The ceremony concluded with a moment of silence followed by the recitation of the National Anthem.
