Medipol sails to victory

Competing in the August 30 Victory Cup, held on the Bosphorus as part of the 7th Presidential International Yacht Races, the Istanbul Medipol University Sailing Team finished first in its group in the Cruiser (CR) class. In an event featuring 56 boats, Medipol also secured third place in the overall fleet standings, marking a significant achievement on August 30 Victory Day.

Held under the auspices of the Presidency, with the contributions of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and in cooperation with the Istanbul Governorship and the Türkiye Tourism Promotion and Development Agency (TGA), the August 30 Victory Cup, the third stage of the 7th Presidential International Yacht Races organized by the Istanbul Offshore Yacht Racing Club, took place on the Bosphorus.

The Istanbul Medipol University Sailing Team also set sail in the race organized on the 104th anniversary of August 30 Victory Day. In the event, which was held along the Dolmabahçe-Arnavutköy course and featured 56 competing boats, teams raced fiercely for podium positions under the Bosphorus’s variable wind and current conditions.
 


MEDIPOL TOPS ITS GROUP
The Istanbul Medipol University Sailing Team reached the top of the Victory Cup standings by finishing first in its group in the highly competitive Cruiser (CR) class. The Medipol team also succeeded in placing third in the overall fleet standings, in which the performances of boats competing across different groups were evaluated together.

The two podium results achieved on the technically demanding course of the Bosphorus turned the Medipol Sailing Team’s performance at the event into a notable sporting success.

A VISUAL SPECTACLE ON THE BOSPHORUS FOR VICTORY DAY
The special stage dedicated to August 30 Victory Day also created striking scenes across the Bosphorus. As sailboats adorned with Turkish flags made their way along the course stretching from Dolmabahçe to Arnavutköy, spectators followed the excitement of the race from the shores of the Bosphorus.

The Victory Cup, held with the participation of approximately 600 athletes, brought together the competitive spirit of sailing with the celebrations of August 30. The Istanbul Medipol University Sailing Team also earned a place on the podium on this special day with its first-place finish in its group and third-place result in the overall standings.
