Hearing loss and the speech disorders that develop as a consequence, along with the reduced social and functional capacities experienced due to a sense of imbalance, have made the provision of necessary treatments to enhance these individuals’ abilities an essential requirement for contemporary society.

An audiologist is a healthcare professional who evaluates disorders of the hearing and balance systems, determines patient needs in collaboration with other members of the rehabilitation team, selects appropriate devices and methods in accordance with identified requirements, plans and supervises the diagnostic and rehabilitation process, assesses patient and family compliance with the rehabilitation process and prescribed devices, and provides necessary guidance.

Politics is all about choices. The science of politics explores all those choices, actors who make choices and interactions among political actors.

International Relations (IR) is a subdiscipline under the broader field of the Political Science and it is the study of the interactions of actors in the international system. Traditionally the discipline of IR analyzes the nature of violent conflict, interstate war, deterrence, cooperation, alliances, political power, the balance of power, economic sanctions, economic growth and stability, international institutions, human rights, NGOs and other transnational actors and globalization. In light of most recent global trends the Department of Political Science and International Relations at Istanbul Medipol University has established its program to equip its students with necessary skills and abilities to be ready for global realities and changing conditions in the new millennium.

Courses offered cover issues like security studies, international relations theories, foreign policy, comparative cultural studies, international political economy, international law, international organizations, transnational civil society and migration as well as area studies such as European Union, Eurasia, Balkans, Middle East, Latin America, Central Asia studies, reflecting the interdisciplinary approach of the Department.

The graduates of the program will be able to explain the dynamics of the international system and its transformation and they will be able to answer the core questions of Political Science and IR along the new ones in the field:

• Why do states choose to cooperate and obey the international law?
• Why, on the other hand, some of them go to war?
• How do we explain the emergence of regional organizations such as European Union or Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization?
• What are the current issues in IR? Why are they so?
• How do states cope with transnational issues such as international migration, terrorism or environmental degradation?

The department recognizes that language and computer skills are vital in a field characterized by increasing global interaction; thus, it facilitates the development of language and computer skills by students. Political Science and International Relations program of Istanbul Medipol University prepares you for a wide range of career opportunities. Our graduates will be able to work in local and national governments, multilateral and intergovernmental organizations, non-government organizations (NGOs), banking and accounting sector, media and publishing sector and academia.

Industrial product designers are capable of analyzing the needs and wants of users; in the light of the analysis, they generate ideas; they develop tangible and marketable products and services by means of collaborating with professional groups from different disciplines.

Designers can contribute to technological innovations thus they can give direction to the future by means of designing sensory, physical and functional user-product interactions.

Our aim at the Department of Industrial Product Design at Istanbul Medipol University, is to educate designers with a philosophy based on engineering and technology, focusing on research and development that is in strong collaboration with the industry. The program aims to educate industrial designers who use design theory and methods accompanied by innovative and experimental methods; who are aware of/responsive to the changing needs of humans and environments both at national an international scale; who know and practice the principles of user-centered design and sustainability; who combine latest developments in technology with professional practice.

Interior Architecture and Environmental Design is a profession based on meeting the expectations of the user; creating an aesthetic identity; providing solutions for the functional requirements using scientific and technical data in order to design the most comfortable environment.

Architectural integrity requires planning for every open/closed environment with respect to the values of volume; analyzing functionality taking into consideration the human factors, ergonomics, physiological, psychological and universal values, socio-environmental criteria and organizing the theories related to scientific, artistic and technical schools of thought.

This organization is realized with the integration of structure, volume, function, individual, society, form, color, material, technic, time, economic theories, scientific, artistic, environmental systems on information, ability and design talent.

At the department of interior architecture and environmental design, students will be trained as professionals with analytical thinking skills who are able to find solutions for interior design problems by taking user needs at the center. In addition, the interdisciplinary approach enables students from different departments to interact with well-known national and international professionals known for their pioneering innovations. Therefore in this context, we aim to train interior architects, who are creative and innovative; who combine the relation of form and function with aesthetics; who are able to produce the original solutions by taking advantage of computer- aided design and environmental technology.

Medical and technological developments, the increase in national and international competitors, and the emphasis on patient satisfaction have intensified the competition in the health sector.

In order to cope with the competition, health institutions have to follow the developments in the field of business as well as the developments in the field of medicine and implement them in their establishments as soon as possible. At this stage, the importance of trained human resources in the administrative staff in the sector is great. There is an increasing need for Health Management graduates who have received comprehensive training in health-oriented insurance, economics, law, quality management, marketing, strategic management, communication, organizational behavior, talent management and innovation.

According to global definition of Social Work, “Social work is a practice-based profession and an academic discipline that promotes social change and development, social cohesion, and the empowerment and liberation of people. Principles of social justice, human rights, collective responsibility and respect for diversities are central to social work. Underpinned by theories of social work, social sciences, humanities and indigenous knowledges, social work engages people and structures to address life challenges and enhance wellbeing” (IFSW & IASSW, 2014).

The first two years of the curriculum focuses on the basic sciences (such as economics, law, social anthropology, politics, health terminology) and the lessons about introduction to social work (field visits, social work history etc.). The following years, lessons are mainly based on social work theory and practice. In other words, it is aimed that students gain experience in practice as well as acquire theoretical knowledge.

This education is aimed to teach graduated nurses who could protect,maintain and improve health of person,family and society in accordance with universal values, national and international standards,realities and needs of country; conduct education, management and research roles; who are ready for nursing role that is getting autonomy; could share knowledge; has ethical values; make people feel valuable themselves; are sensitive for social events, competent in their profession and preferred in health care areas; who could take roles for scientifical research in health services, go on for postgraduate and doctorate; will be able to be academician in future and who could continue professional and individual improvement with the life span learning approach.

The duration of education is four years, and the language of education is Turkish. During the last year, students follow their internship program. There are a lot of employment opportunities at Ministry of Health, university hospitals, private health institutions, polyclinics and many different areas in nursing profession that takes place at first line among professions have job guarentee. Also, nurses who are graduated from university could continue their mastery/doctorate educations.

Audiology is about identifying and assessing hearing and balance function and their associated disorders. It is to provide healthcare staff that helps patients who has hearing or balance disorders using objective and subjective evaluation techniques.

This program aims to raise “Audiologists” who adapt scientific and technological developments, handle hearing and balance problems with the latest and accurate approaches.

In this area of healthcare science, audiologist may study different areas including paediatrics, adult assessment and rehabilitation, special need groups, research and development as well as teaching. There are also different roles within audiology just as newborn hearing screener, hearing aid audiologist, healthcare science practitoner and clinical scientist.

Graduates can find job opportunities in universities, public and private university hospitals, auditory rehabilitation centers, hearing centers, hearing aid centers, cochlear implantation centers and otolarynogology departments.
