Prof. Karabayır: A child's well-being is not just about health, it is about wholeness
In child health, the focus is no longer solely on the treatment of diseases; it is now on improving children’s quality of life through early developmental monitoring, family involvement, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Prof. Dr. Nalan Karabayır shared real case examples demonstrating how collaboration between social pediatrics and child development specialists transforms children’s quality of life.

Child health is no longer limited to treating illnesses; early follow-up and developmental monitoring have become fundamental tools in determining each child’s quality of life. This transformation necessitates an approach that goes beyond the boundaries of clinical practice: the collaboration between social pediatrics and child development.
Istanbul Medipol University discussed emerging new perspectives at the intersection of these two disciplines at an event titled “Collaboration in Child Development in Social Pediatrics Monitoring.” In sessions where real case examples were shared, the clinical dimensions of child health were addressed alongside ethical principles, family-centered approaches, and social factors.

Delivering the opening speech at the event held at the South Campus, Asst. Prof. Dr. Feryal Savcı from Istanbul Medipol University Vocational School of Health Services emphasized that bringing students together with experts in the field is a critical experience for professional development. Savcı stated that such meetings serve as an important bridge in transforming theoretical knowledge into practice.
Following Savcı, Prof. Dr. Nalan Karabayır, Head of the Department of Social Pediatrics at the Institute of Health Sciences, Department of Child Health and Diseases at Istanbul Medipol University, spoke about the practical importance of collaboration between child health monitoring and child development; she shared her experiences and case examples from the clinic with the participants.
