Türkiye’s investment moves under the shadow of the Gulf War are strategic, not sudden
The uncertainty created by the Iran-United States tension in Gulf economies has brought Türkiye to the forefront as an alternative hub for investors. Prof. Hasan Dinçer, a faculty member at Istanbul Medipol University, emphasized that this process should be understood not as a short-term opportunity but as a long-term strategic positioning, highlighting that predictability and transparency play a decisive role in investor confidence.

The economic fluctuations triggered by the conflict between Iran and the United States in Gulf economies have once again raised the prospect of positioning Türkiye as a new center for international investors. As efforts accelerate in line with Istanbul’s goal of becoming a regional financial hub, Prof. Hasan Dinçer, a faculty member of the School of Business and Management Sciences at Istanbul Medipol University, stated that Türkiye’s strategy to attract investment should be interpreted as a gradual, long-term positioning process rather than a short-term competitive response.
The Iran-centered tension has increased economic and infrastructural risks in countries such as the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar, directly affecting the regional investment climate. In this context, Türkiye is perceived as a relatively safer country under NATO protection, and efforts are being made to translate this perception into economic opportunities. Despite rising energy prices and pressure on foreign exchange reserves, Ankara appears to be strengthening its discourse and policies aimed at enhancing investor confidence.
In his evaluation for Al Jazeera, Dinçer underlined that Türkiye’s investment attraction policy should be read as a gradual strategic positioning rather than an abrupt and short-term competition.
“THE FOUNDATION OF INVESTOR CONFIDENCE IS PREDICTABILITY”
Drawing attention to the determinants of investor confidence in developing financial systems, Dinçer stated:
“In developing financial systems, investor confidence is primarily shaped by predictability and transparency.”
According to Dinçer, not only current economic conditions but also the credibility of long-term policies play a decisive role in investment decisions.
“ISTANBUL FINANCIAL CENTER IS A LONG-TERM STRATEGIC STEP”
Referring to initiatives such as the Istanbul Financial Center, Dinçer emphasized that the impact of such projects unfolds over time:
“Long-term economic policy initiatives such as the Istanbul Financial Center constitute significant strategic steps; however, their impact is shaped by sustainable implementation and institutional alignment.”
Concluding his remarks, Dinçer stated that for Türkiye to become a stronger actor in regional and global economic balances, such structural steps must be pursued with determination, and that investor confidence can only be ensured through long-term stability and a climate of trust.
