The panel “Hope in Gaza, Silence Across the World” was held

The panel titled “Hope in Gaza, Silence Across the World,” held at Istanbul Medipol University, brought together media representatives, academics, and activists. The event comprehensively addressed the genocide in Gaza, the stance of the international media, and perception management on digital platforms.

Organized by the Faculty of Communication at Istanbul Medipol University and the Journalism and Media Club, the “Hope in Gaza, Silence in the World” panel was held at the South Campus with strong attendance.

The event began with an opening address by Prof. Dr. Ali Büyükaslan, Dean of the Faculty of Communication at Istanbul Medipol University, followed by welcoming remarks from Prof. Dr. Yusuf Özkır, Head of the Department of Journalism. The panel was moderated by Dr. Esra Oğuzhan, Faculty Member at the Faculty of Communication, and Prof. Dr. Bekir Berat Özipek, Faculty Member at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. Journalists, academics, and representatives of civil society evaluated the stance of the media and academia in response to the humanitarian tragedy in Gaza.

In addition to academics, a large number of students attended the event. Key issues discussed during the panel included Israel’s genocide policies, the silence of Western media, digital censorship, and “Hasbara” propaganda techniques. The speakers agreed that the issue of Gaza is not merely a political matter but fundamentally a moral and humanitarian one.
