The primary aim of this course is to enhance students’ existing English language proficiency and enable them to use English effectively in their professional field, particularly in news writing, oral communication, and international communication settings. The course is designed to help students develop an awareness of professional language use by acquiring the concepts, structures, and terminology required to express news and ideas in interviews, public addresses, and other journalistic contexts.
Another objective is to help students achieve at least an upper-intermediate (B+) level of English proficiency, which is commonly required in professional job advertisements. Through authentic texts and practical communication contexts, students will develop their knowledge of professional terminology, key concepts, and phonological features, including accurate pronunciation. The course also aims to improve students’ ability to prepare news reports in English using appropriate journalistic terminology and verb usage, express opinions and ideas within the framework of the news production process, and gain an understanding of the principles and conventions of language use in international media.
Attendance is compulsory, and students are required to attend at least 70% of the classes.
