2026-27 Academic Year English Preparatory Proficiency Exam Pre-Announcement and Study Materials

2026-2027 English Preparatory Program Proficiency Exam on 07 and 09 September 2026 

For students enrolled in programs with English as the medium of instruction, the English Proficiency Exemption Exam will be held in two phases, face-to-face, at the Kavacık Campus, South and North Campuses, on September 07, 2026 (Monday) and September 09, 2026 (Wednesday). 

Exam Start Time: 09:00 

Exam Location: IMU Kavacık Campus, South and North Campuses 

The first phase of the exam on September 07, 2026, will include the following parts: 

Listening, Reading, Use of English, Vocabulary, Writing 

Students scoring between 0 and 59 in this phase will be required to attend the English Preparatory Program. 

Students scoring between 60 and 74 will participate in the second phase of the exam, which is the Speaking test. 

Students scoring 75 and above will be exempt from the English Preparatory Program. 

For students scoring between 60 and 74 in the first phase, the second and final phase, which assesses speaking skills, will take place on September 09, 2026. The list of students who will take the speaking test will be shared on dilokulu.medipol.edu.tr on September 08, 2026. 

Considering the campus locations and traffic conditions, students should be cautious of potential delays. No parking is available for cars and other vehicles in the campus. Students will be responsible for any delays caused by traffic. 

Students will be informed of their assigned exam rooms by September 07, 2026, through the website dilokulu.medipol.edu.tr.

The materials have been prepared solely to help you become familiar with question types, task structures, and the exam format, identify areas for improvement, and plan your studies accordingly. The questions and texts included will not be used in the actual exam and do not represent the exam question pool or assessment content.  External Video Content: The TED Talks and other YouTube videos shared as part of the Listening practice are not exam content. They are publicly available third-party resources used for educational purposes only. Copyright and related rights belong to their respective owners. 

This exam is for students required to take the English Preparatory Program. Students who do not wish to be exempt from the program and prefer to study preparatory English voluntarily are not required to take the exam. Students who do not participate in the exam will attend the English Preparatory Program. 

The Proficiency Exemption Exam on September 07 and 09, 2026, is not a placement test. The Placement Test for preparatory students will be held on September 11, 2026. Students will be placed in classes based on the results of this placement test. Taking the Placement Test is MANDATORY. The Placement Test is administered to students who are required to attend the preparatory program after failing the Proficiency Exemption Exam, in order to place them in the appropriate level and class. 

Students should note the following when attending the exam: 

o There will be no make-up for the exam. 

o Arrive on campus at least one hour before the exam. 

o Know your student number (class allocation will not be determined by name). 

o Bring valid identification, driver’s license, or passport (transportation cards or other documents are not acceptable). 

o Bring a soft-tip pencil and an eraser. 

o Know the exam room in advance. 

o The use of any electronic devices such as computers, mobile phones, smartwatches, headphones, etc., during the exam is prohibited. These devices should be left with an accompanying person. 

Except for students with special needs or disabilities, parents will not be allowed inside the exam venues. Students with special needs should contact [email protected] by September 02, 2026. 

Exam Evaluation: 

o Students scoring 75 and above in the campus-based face-to-face exam will be exempt from the English Preparatory Program. 

o Students scoring between 60 and 74 in the first phase will be eligible to take the face-to-face Speaking Test on September 09, 2026. 

o Students scoring 59 or below in the exam or 74 or below in the Speaking Test will be required to attend the English Preparatory Program. 

o Exam results will be published on mebis.medipol.edu.tr, and students must know their MEBIS login credentials. 

Candidates registering for programs with mandatory preparatory classes must submit any documents proving they meet exemption criteria, along with the sample petition below, to [email protected] by September 04, 2026.

Optional Preparatory Program: 

o Students wishing to enrol in the optional preparatory class will be accepted into the program with a 25% discount on the full fee of their program, excluding any scholarship discounts. 

o Students wishing to enrol in the optional preparatory class must complete the application by submitting the petition below to [email protected].

o Students wishing to take the optional preparatory class must complete their applications by September 4, 2026. 

o Students planning to attend the optional preparatory program are not required to take the exemption exam.
