Assoc. Prof. Ekim: We need to insist on ocher
Assoc. Prof. Zeynep Emel Ekim said: “There are examples of ocher, especially at the Bosphorus, but it is decreasing day by day. We are gradually losing our traditional methods. We need to continue to insist on using our healthy and traditional methods, even if it is a bit laborious.”

Assoc. Prof. Zeynep Emel Ekim, a faculty member of Istanbul Medipol University Vocational School, told Anadolu Agency that ocher is a mineral found in the soil and contains iron oxide, and that it has brown and yellow tones besides its red color. Explaining that ocher is also used in Anatolia, especially in wooden mosque embroidery, she pointed out that the paint, which colors the facades of buildings in civil architecture, is also utilized for medical purposes. Sharing that examples of ocher are now less common, Assoc. Prof. Zeynep Emel Ekim said: “There are examples of ocher, especially at the Bosphorus, but it is decreasing day by day.
