The First International Voice Therapy Congress held with global participation

24.04.2026

The First International Voice Therapy Congress, held for the first time at Istanbul Medipol University, marked a significant milestone by emphasizing the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration while strengthening the field through the consolidation of its own professional identity. Over the course of the two-day congress, academics, specialists, and students shared contemporary approaches and clinical experiences related to voice therapy.

1. Uluslararası ses terapisi kongresi

Istanbul Medipol University hosted one of the first international gatherings in the field of voice therapy, marking a pioneering step in the domain of health sciences. Organized through the collaboration of the Department of Speech and Language Therapy at the School of Health Sciences of Istanbul Medipol University and the Association of Speech and Language Therapists (DKTD), the First International Voice Therapy Congress evolved beyond a conventional scientific meeting into a powerful platform where the field gained visibility through its distinct identity.

Held at the South Campus Conference Hall with strong participation, the congress brought together academia and clinical practice on a common ground, demonstrating that interdisciplinary collaboration in the assessment and treatment of voice disorders is no longer a matter of choice, but a necessity. This inaugural gathering, which convened diverse stakeholders of the field, also provided significant momentum to the institutionalization process of the voice therapy discipline in Türkiye. The opening speeches of the congress were delivered by Assoc. Prof. Ramazan Sertan Özdemir, Head of the Department of Speech and Language Therapy at Istanbul Medipol University, and Prof. Saime Seyhun Topbaş, a faculty member of the same department.

Throughout the congress, speakers not only conveyed theoretical knowledge but also enriched the content with insights drawn from clinical practice, offering participants a comprehensive perspective on current approaches in voice therapy, evolving professional boundaries, and emerging future directions. In this respect, the congress served not merely as a space for passive listening, but also as a dynamic platform fostering professional awareness and interaction among participants.
