Medipol once again claims the top spot in archery

Istanbul Medipol University athletes achieved remarkable results at the UNILIG Indoor Archery Turkish Championship, held in Samsun between 15 and 17 June 2026 under the organization of the Turkish University Sports Federation.

Competing in the Women’s Compound Bow category, the Istanbul Medipol University team, consisting of Efdal Köse, Beyza Nur Üçler, and Sana Sadr Haghighi, finished the tournament as Turkish champions. The team secured the gold medal with its outstanding performance in the final rounds following the ranking and elimination stages.

Competing individually in the championship, Efdal Köse also outperformed her rivals in the women’s compound bow division and became the Turkish champion.

Held within the scope of the UNILIG Summer SportsFest, the event brought together approximately 1,900 athletes from 96 universities competing across various sports disciplines. As one of the largest university sports organizations in Türkiye, the championship welcomed athletes from different provinces throughout the country in numerous branches.

SUCCESSFUL PERFORMANCE CONTINUES
With their championship victory in Samsun, the Istanbul Medipol University archery team continued its successful performance throughout the 2026 season.

The team had also achieved notable results at the UNILIG Archery Turkish Championship organized by the Turkish University Sports Federation in Antalya between 7 and 10 May 2026. During the competition, hosted by Akdeniz University, the Women’s Compound Bow Team, consisting of Efdal Köse, Beyza Nur Üçler, and Sana Sadr Haghighi, claimed the Turkish championship title, while the Compound Bow Mixed Team, composed of Efdal Köse and Mustafa Dinçel, finished third in Türkiye.

CEVİZ: TEAM COHESION WAS CROWNED WITH A PODIUM FINISH
Sinem Ceviz, Deputy Director of the Sports Services Department at Istanbul Medipol University, who accompanied the athletes during the championship, stated that the team demonstrated a disciplined performance throughout the tournament.

Ceviz noted that the athletes’ focus and team cohesion were reflected in the results and congratulated both the athletes and the coaching staff on their achievements. Referring to the university administration’s contribution to supporting students’ athletic development, Ceviz emphasized that Istanbul Medipol University continues to encourage sporting activities alongside students’ academic pursuits.

COMPOUND BOW CATEGORY
Compound bow archery is a discipline that utilizes equipment featuring a pulley and cam system attached to the bow limbs, enabling greater stability and precision during shooting. Recognized as one of the official categories of the World Archery Federation and international competitions, athletes accumulate points by shooting at designated distances.

In indoor archery competitions, athletes shoot at standard targets in an indoor environment. Following ranking rounds and elimination stages, final matches determine the athletes who place in the competition.
