Aim	The objective of this course is to enable midwifery students to evaluate clinical situations they may encounter from the preconception period through the postpartum period using case-based exercises; to help them develop clinical reasoning and decision-making skills; and to enhance their ability to provide evidence-based and safe midwifery care and counseling in clinical and field settings.
Course Content	This course contains; Sharing the Lesson Plan,Preconception Care and Midwifery Counseling: Assessing the health needs of an individual or couple during the preconception period to provide appropriate midwifery counseling,Decreased Fetal Movement and Assessment of Fetal Well-Being: The ability to assess fetal well-being and provide appropriate guidance in high-risk situations, such as a decrease in fetal movement,Antenatal Care, Prenatal Examinations, and Rational Use of Medications During Pregnancy: The ability to conduct prenatal examinations as part of antenatal care and to provide counseling on the safe use of medications during pregnancy,Prenatal Screening, Diagnostic Methods, and Genetic Counseling: The ability to provide appropriate information and guidance during the genetic counseling process by evaluating the results of prenatal screening and diagnostic tests,Stages of Labor and Midwifery Management: The ability to assess the stages of labor and plan and provide evidence-based midwifery care specific to each stage,Current WHO Criteria for Postpartum Hemorrhage and Midwifery Management: Assessing the risk of postpartum hemorrhage in accordance with current WHO criteria and implementing the necessary midwifery interventions in a timely manner,Initial Assessment of the Newborn and Mother–Newborn Bonding: The ability to perform an initial assessment of the newborn immediately after birth and to implement practices that support mother–newborn bonding,Initial Assessment of the Newborn and Mother–Newborn Bonding: The ability to perform an initial assessment of the newborn immediately after birth and to implement practices that support mother–newborn bonding,Postpartum Mood Changes and Depression: Distinguishing between normal mood changes that occur in the postpartum period and symptoms of postpartum depression, and providing appropriate referrals,Common Problems in Newborns and Midwifery Care: Assessing common problems in newborns—particularly jaundice—and planning appropriate midwifery care,Assessment of Breastfeeding Problems and Breastfeeding Counseling: Assessing mothers and newborns experiencing breastfeeding difficulties and providing breastfeeding counseling tailored to their needs,Family Planning Counseling and Intrauterine Device Insertion: The ability to provide family planning counseling tailored to the needs of the individual or couple and to demonstrate the basic knowledge and skills required for intrauterine device insertion,Stages of Labor and Midwifery Management: The ability to assess the stages of labor and plan and provide evidence-based midwifery care specific to each stage.
