| Aim | This course aims to provide information on the concepts, mechanisms and principles specific to pharmacology, immunology, pathology, histology and embryology among the basic medical sciences, and to develop a holistic and systematic approach. |
| Course Content | This course contains; Histology: Basic cell knowledge and introduction to histology (epithelial, connective-supportive, muscle and nerve tissue).,Covering epithelium, glandular epithelium, connective tissue, adipose tissue, cartilage tissue, bone tissue, striated muscle, cardiac muscle, smooth muscle.,Neurohistology, introduction to general embryology and terminology, oogenesis, spermatogenesis, fertilization, implantation.,Embryology: 2nd week of embryonic development, 3rd week of embryonic development, neurogenesis, organogenesis, extraembryonic structures.,Immunology: Introduction to immunology and basic concepts. ,Innate immunity.,Acquired immunity, T and B cell responses.,Midterm exam,Pharmacology: concept of drugs, pharmacological molecules and formulation, standardization and stabilization.,Pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics.,Drug-receptor relationship, factors altering drug effect.,Pharmaceutical dosage forms and routes of drug administration.,Pathology: cell, tissue and organ damage.,Concepts of degeneration, infarction, necrosis, apoptosis, inflammation.,Pathogenesis.,General exam. |
