Awards were presented in Sports-Themed Short Film Competition

The Sports-Themed Short Film Competition Project, organized by the Istanbul Medipol University Vocational School of Social Sciences (SBMYO) and supported by the Istanbul Medipol University Community Engagement Commission, concluded with an award ceremony.

The project, carried out in three stages, preparation, implementation, and evaluation, aimed to encourage young people to explore the cultural and artistic aspects of sports, express universal values such as discipline, perseverance, teamwork, and achievement through the language of short films, and raise social awareness through this medium.

Implemented to support the creative potential of university students, the project set out to produce at least ten short films, organize an exhibition and film screenings, hold a launch event, and present awards. Covering promotion, film production support, jury evaluations, and the award process, the project aimed to establish a sustainable community engagement model bringing together sports and art, while also serving as the first step toward creating a cultural platform planned to be expanded under the Medipol Sports and Arts Festival.

A total of 16 short films were submitted during the application period. Following the preliminary jury's evaluation, 11 films advanced to the final stage, where they were assessed by a jury of experts based on originality, storytelling, technical quality, and relevance to the competition theme.
 

SPORTS-THEMED FILMS RECEIVED AWARDS
Following the jury's evaluation, Enes Aydın's Kaldırış received the Gold Award with 412 points, Yeşim Çağlar's Son Set received the Silver Award with 393 points, and İhsan Kürt's Azim received the Bronze Award with 390 points. Ebrar Sena Sütcü's Kaçırılan Her Atış, İsabetli Olanın Provasıdır received the Honorable Mention Award with 344 points.

AWARDS PRESENTED AT CEREMONY
The award ceremony, held at Yeşilçam Cinema, was attended by members of the advisory board and jury, academics, students, and numerous guests. Project coordinators Lecturer Ayten Güneş, Asst. Prof. Sonia Lotfi and Lecturer Yusuf Bilgi also attended the ceremony.

Prof. Rana Atabay Kuşçu, Director of the Istanbul Medipol University Vocational School of Social Sciences (SBMYO) and SURKAM, congratulated the participating students in a message sent to the ceremony.
 

LECTURER GÜNEŞ: OUR GOAL WAS TO SUPPORT SHORT FILM PRODUCTION
Project coordinator Lecturer Ayten Güneş of the Istanbul Medipol University Vocational School of Social Sciences said in her opening speech that the competition aimed to support young people in the process of producing short films.

"On the evening of the very first day we announced the competition, we were worried about whether we would receive even a single film submission. Today, we are celebrating the success of 16 valuable works. Our main goal was to help our 'Little Black Fish' first train in our own lake before swimming toward the open seas. We thank all of our participants, who courageously shared their work and who we believe will achieve even greater success in the future."
