Research Areas
Microbiology, one of the core fields of pharmacy, is the branch of science that studies microorganisms. It is a multidisciplinary field closely related to major pharmacy disciplines such as Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacognosy, and Pharmaceutical Technology. Theoretical and practical microbiology courses are taught in the second year of the pharmacy program.
The research areas of the Department of Pharmaceutical Microbiology at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Istanbul Medipol University include:
1. Determination of the antimicrobial activities of newly synthesized compounds and plant extracts
2. Evaluation of the antimicrobial activities of pharmaceutical technology formulations
3. Investigation of contamination in pharmaceutical preparations
