| Aim | The aim of this internship is to prepare final-year medical students to provide comprehensive surgical care by developing competence in the assessment and management of common surgical conditions, performing essential surgical procedures under supervision, recognizing and initiating the management of surgical emergencies, identifying patients requiring referral to higher levels of care, and delivering safe, ethical, and patient-centered healthcare. |
| Course Content | This course contains; Acquire and apply knowledge through trainings in the following areas: General surgery and perioperative care, including surgical assessment, preoperative evaluation, postoperative management, pain control, wound healing, surgical infections, nutrition, and fluid and electrolyte management. Gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary, pancreatic, and colorectal surgery, including the diagnosis and management principles of benign and malignant diseases, gastrointestinal bleeding, abdominal emergencies, and abdominal trauma. Breast, endocrine, and abdominal wall surgery, including breast diseases, thyroid and parathyroid disorders, adrenal diseases, and hernias. Pediatric surgery and transplantation, including common pediatric surgical conditions, principles of organ transplantation, immunosuppression, and transplant ethics.
