Our archers hit the bullseye: Double pride in Antalya

Students of Istanbul Medipol University returned with medals from the UNILIG Archery Turkish Championship, organized by the Turkish University Sports Federation in Antalya between 07–10 May 2026. At the championship, hosted by Akdeniz University, the Women’s Compound Bow Team claimed the Turkish championship title, while the Compound Bow Mixed Team concluded the tournament in third place.

Competing in the Women’s Compound Bow category, the team consisting of Efdal Hatice Köse, Beyza Nur Üçler, and Sana Sadr Haghighi secured the gold medal through their outstanding performance extending from the ranking rounds to the final stage.

Meanwhile, Efdal Hatice Köse and Mustafa Dinçel, who competed in the Compound Bow Mixed category, won the bronze medal after finishing third in Türkiye following their successful performances in the elimination rounds.

More than 220 athletes from 45 universities participated in the organization, with 100 male and 118 female athletes competing throughout the championship. In the tournament, which witnessed a highly competitive atmosphere, Medipol athletes distinguished themselves through their team cohesion, concentration, and high accuracy rates demonstrated during critical moments.

CEVİZ: DISCIPLINE AND TEAM COHESION WERE DECISIVE
Sinem Ceviz, Deputy Director of the Sports Services Department at Istanbul Medipol University, who accompanied the athletes during the tournament, thanked the university administration following the competition. Ceviz stated:

“The achievements attained at the UNILIG Archery Turkish Championship became a tremendous source of pride for all of us. Throughout the tournament, our athletes accomplished a significant success through the focus, discipline, and team cohesion they demonstrated. I sincerely congratulate all of our athletes and coaches who represented our university in the best possible manner. 

On behalf of our team, I would also like to extend my gratitude to our university administration, which consistently supports the athletic development of our students, as well as to all units that contributed to this achievement. As Istanbul Medipol University, we will continue not only to pursue sustainable success in the academic sphere, but also across various branches of sports, while supporting our students in representing our university on national platforms in the best possible way.”
