Prof. Yavuzer was sent off on his final journey

Prof. İbrahim Haluk Yavuzer from the Department of Child Development at Istanbul Medipol University’s School of Health Sciences was sent off on his final journey.

Having lost his life on Sunday, March 30, Prof. İbrahim Haluk Yavuzer from the Department of Child Development at Istanbul Medipol University’s School of Health Sciences was sent to eternity with the prayers of his loved ones. The funeral prayer was held at the Altunizade Marmara University Faculty of Theology Mosque and was attended by the President of Istanbul Medipol University, Prof. Ömer Ceran, and the Vice-President, Prof. Recep Öztürk, his family, students, and colleagues. Following the funeral prayer, Prof. Yavuzer was laid to rest in Çekmeköy New Cemetery.

DOYEN OF CHILD PSYCHOLOGY 
One of Türkiye’s most respected academics in the field of child psychology and education, Prof. Haluk Yavuzer has trained countless students and undertaken many important projects throughout his career. Prof. Yavuzer graduated from the Department of Pedagogy of Istanbul University’s Faculty of Letters in 1965 and completed his doctorate in 1971. He conducted research on child psychology and education and juvenile delinquency at the University of London. He founded ‘Parent Schools’, which began operating in 1989 and aimed at educating parents. In addition to his scientific studies, Prof. Yavuzer held administrative roles at universities, serving as a Member of the Istanbul University Senate and a Member of the Faculty Board of Directors. He also served as an Education Coordinator in the European Union-supported 0-6-year-old Home Child Care and Education Staff Training Project and as a Member of the TÜBİTAK Education and Communication Projects Evaluation Commission. Prof. Haluk Yavuzer, who has made major contributions to the field of child development and psychology, was serving as a Faculty Member in the Department of Child Development at Istanbul Medipol University’s School of Health Sciences since 2015.
