International research award to Prof. Yılmaz
Prof. Mesut Yılmaz, the Vice-Dean of the School of International Medicine, has achieved success in the international arena by receiving the “Best Clinical Research of the Year” award from the Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for his work in 2024.

Istanbul Medipol University International School of Medicine Vice-Dean Prof. Mesut Yılmaz was deemed worthy of the “Best Clinical Research of the Year” award by the Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational. Examining the safety and effectiveness of switching from intravenous (IV) antibiotic treatment to oral treatment in patients diagnosed with Gram-negative bacteremia, Prof. Mesut Yılmaz made an impact in the international scientific community with his research conducted in 2024. The study revealed important findings that reduce costs to the healthcare system by reducing the length of hospital stay while allowing patients to recover faster. The research provides an innovative perspective on treatment protocols for infectious diseases.
PROF. YILMAZ: I AM HONORED
Providing information about his work, Prof. Yılmaz said: “This research was conducted to facilitate the treatment of patients with serious infections such as Gram-negative bacteremia and to make healthcare systems more efficient. As a result of the research, it was understood that switching to oral antibiotic treatment at an early stage is safe in bloodstream infections caused by Gram-negative bacteria. It was shown that the length of hospital stay and hospital and treatment costs can be reduced. It is a great honor to be deemed worthy of such a prestigious award.”
