ECTS Information Package
The European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) is a student-centered credit system based on student workload. It represents the total amount of work required for a student to successfully complete a course, including all academic activities such as theoretical instruction, practical sessions, seminars, individual study, examinations, and assignments.
During the implementation of the Bologna Process in Türkiye, ECTS has been one of the most significant areas of focus. In recent years, many universities in Türkiye have intensified their efforts to align their own credit and grading systems with the principles of ECTS.
The Turkish Qualifications Framework for Higher Education (TQF-HE) refers to the development of a “national qualifications framework in higher education,” which member countries of the Bologna Process committed to establish by 2010 in order to enhance transparency, recognition, and mobility within their higher education systems. This initiative is aligned with the objectives of the Lisbon Strategy published by the European Union (EU) in 2000 and the Bologna Process, to which Türkiye became a party in 2001. The National Qualifications Framework is a system in which qualifications, recognized and comparable at both national and international levels, are structured in a coherent order. Through this system, all qualifications and other learning outcomes in higher education can be clearly defined and consistently related to one another.
In order to provide detailed information about its academic programs developed in alignment with the Bologna Process, as well as the educational philosophy and objectives of Istanbul Medipol University, an ECTS and TQF-HE Catalogue has been specifically prepared. This catalogue presents, in a systematic and comprehensive manner, the ECTS credits of courses, student workloads, assessment processes, and all related components.
The ECTS and TQF-HE Catalogue is an information package that integrates the National Qualifications determined by the Council of Higher Education (CoHE) with the practices of the Bologna Process.
Beneficiaries of this information package will not only be able to access detailed information about the academic programs offered, but also obtain practical information regarding student life in Istanbul and at Istanbul Medipol University beyond academic activities.
