Istanbul Medipol University organized a “White Coat Ceremony” for the students who placed in the International School of Medicine by achieving Türkiye rank in the Higher Education Institutions Examination (YKS). The Dean of the International School of Medicine Prof. Ayhan Taştekin said: “The International School of Medicine provides successful students with the infrastructure to support their aspirations to become scientists, the opportunity to learn English as a native speaker, and the chance to develop their professional networks through overseas experience. With these features, it is the first and only school in Türkiye that provides students with research opportunities at an international level.”

Istanbul Medipol University International School of Medicine students came together for the “White Coat Wearing Ceremony”, one of the most important steps towards becoming a doctor. The Dean of the International School of Medicine Prof. Ayhan Taştekin and Vice-Dean Prof. Zübeyir Bayraktaroğlu, academicians, students, and their families attended the ceremony held at the South Campus Conference Hall. Speaking at the ceremony where Türkiye’s most successful students took an important step towards becoming a doctor, Dean of the International School of Medicine Prof. Taştekin stated that doctors should be qualified, sincere, reliable, compassionate, and good at their job. Stating that the International School of Medicine has been the address of students who have been ranked first in the YKS for the last nine years, Prof. Taştekin said: “The International School of Medicine provides successful students with the infrastructure to support their aspirations to become scientists, the opportunity to learn English as a native speaker, and the chance to develop their professional networks through overseas experience. PROF. BAYRAKTAROĞLU: MEDICINE IS NOT ONLY A PROFESSION
Prof. Bayraktaroğlu, Vice-Dean of the International School of Medicine, stated that wearing a white coat is not only a tradition but also a symbol that carries professional values and responsibilities. Prof. Bayraktaroğlu continued as follows: “The white coat is much more than a garment. It represents a commitment, an idea, and a purpose. It reminds us of our professional duties of integrity, respect for human life and ethical values, and lifelong learning. It symbolizes not only knowledge, but also a profession built on love, compassion and passion. By putting on your white coats today, not only are you a medical student, but you are also taking on the responsibility of humanity. Every time you put on your white coats, remember the values it represents and its promise to serve humanity. Medicine is not only a profession, but also a professional art and spirit.”
PROF. YILMAZ: THE INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL OF MEDICINE ACCREDITED UNTIL 2030
The Vice-Dean of the International School of Medicine Prof. Mesut Yılmaz also reminded that the International School of Medicine has been accredited by the Association of Medical Education Programs Evaluation and Accreditation (TEPDAD) until 2030. Stating that they will continue to provide the best educational experience to students by raising quality standards in medical education, Prof. Yılmaz said: “The language of instruction at the International School of Medicine is entirely in English for the first 3 years; in the 4th, 5th, and 6th years, theoretical courses and exams are conducted in English, while practical applications and bedside discussions are in Turkish. During the preparatory year, all our students travel to the United States and achieve an advanced level of English. At the International School of Medicine, where student-centered practices stand out, students have the opportunity to conduct research in fundamental sciences, neuroscience, heart diseases, cancer, genetic diseases, and drug development within the first 3 years. For three years, they accelerate their projects in scientific research committees for 4-5 weeks every year, write projects with the help of mentors, and at the end of the 3 years, they can turn their research into a poster, oral presentation or article. Students who meet the necessary conditions starting from their freshman year are given the opportunity to double major. Our students can double major in many fields, especially engineering.”
