President Ceran welcomed our national athlete students in his office

Istanbul Medipol University President Prof. Ömer Ceran received our national athlete students, who achieved success in national and international competitions, in his office and presented them with gifts.

Istanbul Medipol University President Prof. Ömer Ceran hosted national athletes İrem Gezer and Zeyna Gaballa, who proudly represented our country, in his office. President Ceran met with the students who successfully represented Türkiye and our university in snowboarding and karate branches, congratulated the young athletes, and wished them continued success. Conversing with the athletes, President Ceran expressed his appreciation of their efforts to balance their sports career and academic lives. Stating that such achievements are a great source of pride for our university, President Ceran expressed his belief that the athletes will achieve greater success in the future. At the end of the meeting, President Ceran presented gifts to the national athletes on behalf of our university.

GEZER WON TWO MEDALS IN ITALY
Speaking about her sports life and thanking Istanbul Medipol University for their support, Gezer said: “I have been snowboarding for eleven years, and I have been competing in the national jersey for seven years. Although my medical school education has been challenging, my sports life supports this process.” Istanbul Medipol University School of Medicine student İrem Gezer had returned with two medals from the European Universities Winter Championships organized in Italy in cooperation with the Turkish University Sports Federation (TÜSF) and the European University Sports Association (EUSA).

GABALLA BECAME THE TÜRKİYE CHAMPION
Zeyna Gaballa, who has been involved in karate for fifteen years, said that sports are an endeavor that requires discipline and endurance. Noting that the physical and mental endurance she has gained throughout her sports career has also provided significant support for her education life, Gaballa expressed her satisfaction with our university’s attitude towards supporting student athletes. Zeyna Gaballa, a student at the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, had became the Türkiye Champion in the +68 kilograms category in the Universities League (ÜNİLİG) Karate Türkiye Championship, which is included in the activity program of the Turkish University Sports Federation. National Karate Player Gaballa had proudly waved our flag by winning the gold medal in the individual competition at the U21 Balkan Karate Championship held in Slovenia. Gaballa had also honored our country by winning the silver medal in the Karate 1 Series A competition held in Portugal.
