The “Next-Up” event organized by Istanbul Medipol University Operations Research Society Club discussed the importance of change in the business world and how industrial engineering guides this transformation. Sector professionals emphasized the importance of the agile management approach for companies to gain competitive advantage.
ÖZCAN: COMPANIES MUST ADAPT TO CHANGE
Speaking at the event, ACMAgile Agility Consultant & Partner Ahmet Özcan stated that traditional hierarchical structures are inadequate in today’s business world, and that companies that adopt the agile management model gain a competitive advantage. Özcan drew attention to the fact that lack of communication between departments delays decision-making processes and said: “While individuals can adapt to change quickly, companies follow this process from behind. Thanks to agile methodologies, organizations can make faster decisions and adapt to market conditions immediately.” Özcan stated that the main principles of the Agile Manifesto are based on flexibility and said that individuals and interactions are prioritized over processes, and that a working product is considered more valuable than detailed documentation. Özcan also underlined that cooperation with the customer should come before contract negotiations, and that adapting to change is more important than adhering to fixed plans.
