Ekol TV Board Chair Emrah Doğru shared his experience with students at the “Future of Media” event organized by Istanbul Medipol University School of Communication. The event, held at the South Campus, provided important information about the future of the media sector, digital transformation, and the changing dynamics of journalism. The event, which began with an opening speech by Dean of the School of Communication Prof. Ali Büyükaslan, highlighted the lack of qualified personnel in the media industry. Doğru said: “Today, it is becoming increasingly difficult to find quality editors and reporters. Newsrooms have a busy and dynamic structure. Therefore, it is a great advantage to be involved in the industry since one’s university days.” Doğru also talked about the impact of artificial intelligence on the media sector, stating that the new generation of media professionals should adapt to these technologies.

COMPETITION IS FIERCE IN THE MEDIA SECTOR
Emrah Doğru underlined the competition and difficulties in the media sector and said: “Today, it is necessary to make a difference in order to survive in the media sector. Hundreds of news items are evaluated in newsrooms every day and only the most striking ones are broadcasted. Ratings and audience interest are major determining factors. Therefore, both technical competence and creativity are now essential.” Doğru pointed out the importance of gaining experience in the media field and said: “Someone who is not involved in the sector during their studies will have serious difficulties finding a job after graduation. At Ekol TV, we cooperate with universities to train the media professionals of the future. We select the ten best students and prepare them for the sector with paid internship programs.” Doğru also shared parts of his own career path, explaining that he has been interested in the media sector since childhood and that he wants to undertake projects that will make a difference in the sector. Doğru said: “I had a dream to establish Ekol TV, and I am proud to have realized this dream.”
