Veteran Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic of Türkiye, was commemorated with a ceremony held at Istanbul Medipol University on the 85th anniversary of his death. Academic and administrative staff and many students attended the commemoration ceremony held at the entrance of the university. Delivering a speech at the ceremony, Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences Prof. Gökhan Malkoç said that Atatürk will always be in our minds and hearts. Noting that Atatürk's ideas are still alive even though 85 years have passed after his death, Malkoç said: “He spent his 57-year life working for the Nation. He and his fellow fighters expelled the imperialists from our country and gifted us with the Republic, of which we celebrate its 100th anniversary during this year 2023. Atatürk left behind principles from which we can draw inspiration. I bow before his memory and commemorate our martyrs who sacrificed their lives for this country, with respect and gratitude.”
