The "European Green Deal and its Impacts on Turkish Industry Summit" was held on 31 May 2023 at Kartal Campus which was organized by Istanbul Gedik University in partnership with UNESCO to discuss the environmental, social, and economic impacts of the European Green Deal on the Turkish economy in the industrial sector.
In the first session of the summit, which we supported as #SURKAM, we made a presentation titled "European Green Deal within the Framework of Sustainable Development Goals and Türkiye’'s Status".
In the panel section chaired by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Barış ALPASLAN, Istanbul Gedik University faculty members Prof. Dr. Haslet EKŞİ KOÇAK and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Haslet EKŞİ KOÇAK and Prof. Dr. Uğur GÜROL, we discussed the harmonization process of the industrial sector with the European Green Deal and the measures to be taken.
Summit Flow
In the second session, Mr. İlyas GÜLENÇ, Director of the Yeşil Büyüme Platformu, made a presentation on "Policy Instruments of the European Green Deal and Their Effects on Foreign Trade".
The next session was organized by Demet Işıl KARAKURT, Trade Expert at the Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Türkiye. In the session, the activities carried out by the state in terms of compliance with the European Green Deal were discussed.
In the afternoon sessions, Europe's new industrialization strategy and the effects of the European Green Deal on the real sector were discussed.
Addressing Europe's New Industrialization Strategy in the context of digitalization, green transformation, and competitiveness, Social Sciences University of Ankara Lecturer Assoc. Prof. Dr. İzzet ARI mentioned the European Green Deal Industrial Plan in his presentation.
In the last session of the summit, SEMTRIO Co-Founder Bekir ÇETİN evaluated whether the European Green Deal is a risk or an opportunity with his presentation titled "The Effects of the Green Deal on the Real Sector".
