Head of the Department of Midwifery

.

Dear Students,

The profession of midwifery, which has existed since ancient times, has today taken its place among contemporary professions with programs at the master's and doctoral levels. The International Confederation of Midwives (ICM), the World Health Organization (WHO), and UNICEF emphasize that "the world needs midwives now more than ever" to reduce maternal and infant mortality rates and cesarean section rates.

With our department established in the 2014-2015 academic year, it is our university's goal to produce graduates who are fully equipped, capable of working independently, have adopted lifelong learning as a principle, and will carry the midwifery profession to its peak through scientific studies, considering the needs of our country.

The theoretical and practical courses in our program are designed to help you gain skills in the midwifery profession starting from the first year. In the delivery rooms of our hospitals, accompanied by experts, we strive to educate you in an atmosphere of trust, love, and tolerance through the traditional master-apprentice relationship.

How would you like to help ease the pain of a mother in labor, assist a new life in coming into the world, and witness the first eye contact of a newborn with its mother?

I wish you a joyful life full of success in this oldest and most respected profession of history that you have chosen.

Asiye KOCATÜRK, PhD Assistant Professor
