The aim of this course is to increase students' interest and awareness of environmental problems and global environmental change, with a special emphasis on the political economy of the environment.
Although the mainstream environmental economics approach will be briefly discussed, the main topic of the course will be the concepts, models and methods used in the ecological economics and political ecology literature. Upon completion of this course, students will have a general understanding of the relationships between economic, social and ecological systems; to adopt an interdisciplinary approach to the analysis of environmental problems and to apply various methods and models used in ecological economics to such environmental problems; They are expected to have a critical awareness of issues related to economic growth, environmental valuation and assessment methods, ecological sharing disputes, social metabolism, and the political economy of the environment in Turkey.
