| Aim | General Purpose: The main objective of this course is to comprehensively teach students the etiology, pathophysiology, clinical and radiological diagnostic methods, and current surgical treatment principles of infections, cysts, benign tumors, traumatic injuries, and developmental anomalies affecting the oral, dental, and maxillofacial regions. Specific Learning Objectives: To learn preprosthetic and regenerative surgical techniques applied to soft and hard tissues in order to prepare patients for optimal prosthetic rehabilitation. To recognize the pathways of odontogenic and non-odontogenic infections, fascial space abscesses, and jaw osteonecrosis (MRONJ/Osteoradionecrosis), and to plan appropriate medical/surgical drainage methods. To be able to make a differential diagnosis of developmental, inflammatory, and neoplastic lesions (cysts and benign tumors) of the oral mucosa and jawbones; and to determine appropriate surgical strategies such as enucleation, marsupialization, or resection. To gain the ability to evaluate the principles of initial management, reduction, and fixation in maxillofacial traumas (dentoalveolar, mandibular, and Le Fort fractures) with a multidisciplinary approach. To apply the fundamental modifications of surgical planning in geriatric patients, individuals with cleft lip and palate, or patients with systemic risks. |
